Treasure Hunts and Persistent "Geocache style" GPS hunts
Our Treasure Hunts come in two varieties - the Persistent GPS kind and the Annual SK8 M8s team competition hunt (This year it will be Sunday May 23rd). Read about both below! Share
Persistent GPS "Geo-cache" style skate treasure hunts.
These are year round hunts that you can do on your own or with friends. They require a GPS enabled device and a keen sense of observation!
All you need to do is skate to the GPS co-ordinates on this page and look out for the SK8school or Ride n Joy logo at each location. They will be hard to spot and of course GPS is a "variable accuracy" technology so once you've managed to get to the right area - actually finding the marker might not be as simple as you would think.
Time yourself on each route and write it up on the Facebook Fan Page under discussions. Pretty soon a leader board will develop. From time to time we will update the courses so you'll always have something new to hunt - right through the year!

Treasure hunts mean you'll always have something to do through the year either on your own or in teams - once you've honed your skills the annual race is a good way to test your team!
If you like this kind of Tour Skating you'll probably also love the Sk8 and Chips running on Wednesdays and Thursdays throughout the month during the summer.
The routes and starting points vary from a nice little prom skate, with some relaxing chat and fish and chips with some good company. To road trips to Pevensey Bay. However there is never anything too flash or pacey. Sit on the beach and if time allows perhaps finish off with an Ice Cream or coffee before heading home again. The latest information for these and many other events is usually "forward notified" in Eastbournes biggest and best skate newsletter. If you need reminders sent to your phone, this event is covered by the Sk8 M8's TXT event notification reminder service, just text your name and JOIN to 07940773295 and a couple of days before any Sk8 M8's event you'll get a txt reminder (typically 1 a week).
SK8 M8s Annual Treasure Hunt Race - May 23rd 2010
Starting this year at Harbour Car Park at 13:30pm Sunday May 23rd for Registration, teams of up to 4(ish) will race for the treasure and take home the trophy till next year! Race might not be the right word, as the fastest back is not always the winner, you will need brains as well as speed!
Points are awarded for correct answers to clues and puzzles, being back first, making the judges laugh and being inventive and observant. Sign up via the contact us page, via email, TXT or however you prefer.
Taking part is FREE and typically teams can expect to be entertained for about 2 hours.

Worried about the start and finish being in different places? No problem there will be plenty of cars available at the finish line to ferry weary Treasure Hunters back to the start if you can't face skating/cycling/walking back!
The eventual winnners not only get a Trophy - they also get the Buried Treasure Map and a spade! Yes this hunt ends with REAL buried treasure! Tell all your friends, the more the merrier!
