We have a variety of skate lessons, class styles and skate social events available for all ages and abilities, all year. If you don't see something that suites your requirements please contact us. We also teach in a variety of Schools running after School Skate Clubs.

Our Eastbourne skate lessons don't stop when the weathers bad, we have indoor facilities for the winter and often run Theory lessons to aid people in buying and maintaining their skates.

Regular Skate Lessons and classes are run outdoors at the Turning Circle right through the Summer. In the winter we have a variety of open skate lessons, kids club and pre-booked skate courses available at a range of indoor skating locations.

Specialist skills and skate master classes focus on specific needs throughout the month. So we can cater for Adults, Children, Expert skaters and total beginners in a focused and professional manner.

We usually teach skating in and around Eastbourne but can also come to you! We teach quad and inline skating and Rollerblading in Brighton, London, Hastings and Seaford - If you are in Sussex give us a call! Additionally our half day intensive skate courses make it worth the travel!

Sk8school FREE Eastbourne Skate Lessons

Our FREE Lesson program works in conjunction with the Skate shops in Eastbourne, Hastings, Brighton and London. Simply attend one of our DROP IN group skate lessons with a Sk8school voucher from one of the participating skate shops and we'll get you skating with a FREE skating introduction. In half an hour we can get most TOTAL BEGINNERS standing, going, stopping and turning. If your skate shop is not participating in this free lesson program - get them to contact us, we would be happy to work with them. 

This is a FREE lesson, not just a few tips, by someone not even wearing the full equipment, or even a heel brake, with out of date skills. Why settle for second best when you are starting out? It takes a long time to "unlearn" bad skating habits - avoid them with Sk8school

Sk8school Private Eastbourne Skate Lessons

We will run private lessons at anytime, anywhere. Costs depend on location and type of instructor required, but as a guide a one to one lesson on the seafront, with a level 1 ICP instructor will cost £20 for an hour. (More advanced skate lessons require a level 2 instructor and start at £25 per hour). Extra people simply add 50% extra per person (under 6's go free). We can arrange indoor private lessons by booking sports halls which obviously incur an extra charge and require a longer booking lead time.

Sk8school Group Skate Lessons in Eastbourne

Group "Drop In" Eastbourne Skate Lessons

These lessons are tremendous fun and a fair bit cheaper than a private lesson. Generally we run these through the summer on Sunday mornings (11am) at the turning circle. Unlike private lessons they proceed at group pace. Typically they cover beginner to intermediate moves. Suitable for any age, but typically suiting 12-70 year olds as the kids prefer to learn in Kids club! Free shop introductory skate lessons are covered in these sessions.

Sk8school Eastbourne Skate Theory Lesson

Next time you visit a skate shop - make some educated buying decisions! Geared for older skaters and parents of the younger ones... In depth analysis of how to skate. How to choose skates. How to make educated skate and Rollerblade buying decisions - you can save £££'s with the information in this class alone!

You will learn why we have different :-

Physical benefits of skating, Training programs and much more. This session will typically cover about 2 hours including an intermission.  

This course will answer all the following questions: 

  • Are you - or your child wearing the right skates?
  • Did you get the best deal from the skate shop?
  • Are you confident you know exactly what you need?
  • When and how do you change a wheel or bearing?
  • What should your biggest safety concern be?
  • Should I buy an Inline or quad skate?
  • What are the rules of the road?

And once you've done it you'll be making informed buying decisions in the skate shops, saving money and knowing what you and your family NEED and why you need it.

Sk8 2 Ski and Ski 2 Sk8 Conversion Course

We understand Skating and Skiing which allows us to rapidly convert skaters into Skiers and Visa Versa! One hours lesson can take you from standing up to Slalom turns. This is excellent cross training for Skiing when the Dry Slope is full or there is no snow!

  • Cost - From £20 an hour
  • Location - Anywhere - though some locations may incur traveling charges and or hire charges.

Half Day Intensive Skating Course - Beginner

A half day intensive skate lesson, geared towards the total beginner and including skate hire if required. These courses run monthly and pre-booking is essential. The class is a group lesson covering 3 hours of skating from how to stand all the way up to sweeping graceful turns. If you can't skate and want to be confident and competent in a morning, this is the one for you! Skills covered include:

  • Standing up and protecting yourself in a fall
  • Getting your self going
  • Stopping and controlling speed
  • Basic turns
  • Going faster
  • Some more stops
  • Graceful flowing turns

This half day class is ideal for 10+ year olds, up to 70 year olds with no confidence, experience or previous knowledge. Not only will be get you going, but you'll have fun doing it and will be pretty good at the end of it. Ask us about the next class.

Half Day Skating Course - Mastering Skating Backwards

Just accomplishing this move gets you expert status with most people. A real building block move that lays the foundations to much advanced skating.

  • Gets you going backwards for the first time
  • Introduction to transitions
  • Gets you going fast backwards
  • Stopping in a variety of backwards formats
  • Various backward turns
  • Backwards crossover, anti crossover and mix (get this one and look like an expert!)

This is a tough class, but very rewarding and focus's on the horror's of traveling backwards and switching directions with confidence. The initial moves are quite simple, but the course rapidly advances to sophisticated backwards cross overs and anti cross overs!

Eastbourne Skate Lesson - Mastering 10 Ways To Stop

Stopping on skates is an important skill!  We can help you learn several ways to stop on skates. From the humble heel brake to the mighty double edged hockey stop in one day! (some of these moves involve backwards movement so think about that course also!)

  • Heel brake 1 2 and 3
  • Snow plough, herringbone
  • Spin stop (and backwards), t stop
  • Lunge stop, forwards and backwards power-slide
  • Hockey stop, jump stop, stamp stop and plant stop.

Another tough class, but extremely useful to have before going outside as stopping your skates becomes more important when there are hazards about! This course gives a skater a huge selection of stopping techniques to use for various occasions.

Focusing on the quest for the edge! Master your edges in one day. (some of these moves involve backwards movement so think about that course also!)

  • Beginners start off skating the "A frame" Turn
  • Skating Parallel Turns
  • Skating Lunge turn
  • Toe and heal roll turns
  • Skating Slalom turns
  • One foot turns
  • Forwards crossover
  • All the above backwards! (if time allows)

This one really focus's on edges and to get the most from it, you need to be able to at least start a parallel turn correctly.

Sk8school runs indoor classes all winter and when the sun comes back, we teach people to respect the tarmac! The Outdoor Only Eastbourne Skate Lesson!
The Sk8school sk8 street wise classes bridge the gap between the indoor and outdoor training, preparing skaters for wind, hills, bumps, kerbs etc.

Half Day Skating Course - Flow, Grace and Tricks

The experts only, skating course for the difficult to scare! You must be able to skate very well, before you bother with this one! You will be problem solving and testing yourself and your courage with this course

In one day you'll attempt:
  • Linking manoeuvres
  • Knowing when to stop a move
  • Various steps (dancing not streetwise)
  • Pirouettes, spins, jumps, flash linked turns, spin to sit
  • Barrel roll, grapevine, various toe tricks, slalom tricks, dance moves and even a little sideways!
  • Survivors will be impressive!

Don't try this unless you've attended all the "masters" classes!
