Eastbourne Skate Lessons for Improvers and Intermediate Skaters

This lesson is ideal for you if you are resonably happy with your stopping, you can skate comfortably faster than a walker and you can turn well enough to avoid collisions. This is the place for you if:
- You want to go faster
- Some other forms of stopping would be useful
- You want to know how to deal with hills and kerbs
- Backwards looks like fun

Helmet, Knee, Elbow and Wrist guards are required. We have plenty of spares available if you need to borrow some. Skate rental is also available in all sizes from Childs 12 to Adult 10.5 UK sizes. Skate Hire is £5, Pads and Helmets are free to use |

If you don't want a group skate lesson, we'll be happy to take you through a custom built skate improvement program at a time, place and pace to suit you. At this level you also have the option of intensive 2 hour courses focusing on specific skill areas (stopping, turning, backwards). These are only available when booked in advance and typically occur monthly. |

Improver coaching sessions for people that can skate, but need expert advice to fix "problem areas" like stopping, turning, going faster or backwards. These coaching sessions will need prior booking, will have minimum numbers and a very limited teaching scope. For example 2 or 3 skills in one coaching session. Sk8school Private Eastbourne Skate Lessons
We will run private lessons at anytime, anywhere. Costs depend on location and type of instructor required, but as a guide a one to one lesson on the seafront, with a level 1 ICP instructor will cost £20 for an hour. (More advanced skate lessons require a level 2 instructor and start at £25 per hour). Extra people simply add 50% extra per person (under 6's go free). We can arrange indoor private lessons by booking sports halls which obviously incur an extra charge and require a longer booking lead time.

Sk8school Eastbourne Skate Theory Lesson
Next time you visit a skate shop - make some educated buying decisions! Geared for older skaters and parents of the younger ones... In depth analysis of how to skate. How to choose skates. How to make educated skate and Rollerblade buying decisions - you can save £££'s with the information in this class alone!
You will learn why we have different :-
- Skates
- Wheels
- Bearing
- Frames
Physical benefits of skating, Training programs and much more. This session will typically cover about 2 hours including an intermission.
This course will answer all the following questions:
- Are you - or your child wearing the right skates?
- Did you get the best deal from the skate shop?
- Are you confident you know exactly what you need?
- When and how do you change a wheel or bearing?
- What should your biggest safety concern be?
- Should I buy an Inline or quad skate?
- What are the rules of the road?
And once you've done it you'll be making informed buying decisions in the skate shops, saving money and knowing what you and your family NEED and why you need it.

Sk8 2 Ski and Ski 2 Sk8 Conversion Course
We understand Skating and Skiing which allows us to rapidly convert skaters into Skiers and Visa Versa! One hours lesson can take you from standing up to Slalom turns. This is excellent cross training for Skiing when the Dry Slope is full or there is no snow!

Half Day Skating Course - Mastering Skating Backwards

Just accomplishing this move gets you expert status with most people. A real building block move that lays the foundations to much advanced skating.
- Gets you going backwards for the first time
- Introduction to transitions
- Gets you going fast backwards
- Stopping in a variety of backwards formats
- Various backward turns
- Backwards crossover, anti crossover and mix (get this one and look like an expert!)
This is a tough class, but very rewarding and focus's on the horror's of traveling backwards and switching directions with confidence. The initial moves are quite simple, but the course rapidly advances to sophisticated backwards cross overs and anti cross overs!

Half Day Skating Course - Mastering 10 skating stops

Stopping on skates is an important skill! We can help you learn several ways to stop on skates. From the humble heel brake to the mighty double edged hockey stop in one day! (some of these moves involve backwards movement so think about that course also!)
- Heel brake 1 2 and 3
- Snow plough, herringbone
- Spin stop (and backwards), t stop
- Lunge stop, forwards and backwards power-slide
- Hockey stop, jump stop, stamp stop and plant stop.
Another tough class, but extremely useful to have before going outside as stopping your skates becomes more important when there are hazards about! This course gives a skater a huge selection of stopping techniques to use for various occasions.

Half Day Skating Course - Mastering Skating Turns
Focusing on the quest for the edge! Master your edges in one day. (some of these moves involve backwards movement so think about that course also!)
- Beginners start off skating the "A frame" Turn
- Skating Parallel Turns
- Skating Lunge turn
- Toe and heal roll turns
- Skating Slalom turns
- One foot turns
- Forwards crossover
- All the above backwards! (if time allows)
This one really focus's on edges and to get the most from it, you need to be able to at least start a parallel turn correctly.
