Sk8school and Eastbourne Sk8 M8s trip - LondonSkate Competition/Larking About in Hyde Park and Street Skate!
The LondonSkate
This is an annual competition covering a variety of "high skill" events such as Slalom, Slides etc. and a number of more informal contests - eg. Hockey.
The Schedule
Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th August, which happily coincides with Airbourne, making it difficult to skate the seafront!
The competitions are indoors all day - however if competition entry, or watching is not your thing, the Sk8 M8s have an alternative. A roll around Hyde Park, with Picnic, followed by participation in the weekly Sunday Stroll London Street Skate. (Sunday Only)
The Picnic will be about 1pm the Street Skate is about 2:30pm, we'd expect to return to Eastbourne for around 7pm.
When/Where to meet up in London
The idea is to meet up at Victoria Station for around mid day
(Sunday Only). However if you are intending to be in the competition
etc. this may be too late! Go earlier! If you just want Hyde Park,
Picnics and Street Skate - this will be fine. - NOTE - The Sk8 M8s are
intending to do SUNDAY ONLY, but SkateLondon is on both days. This is
because we are doing the "Boat Race" on Saturday!
Food and Drink
Bring a suitable picnic - which you should plan to mostly (or
totally) consume before the London Street Skate. You don't want to lug
lots of stuff about!
Basic directions:
If you are travelling with us you wont need to worry about it - we'll all be heading to Hyde Park. Those going to SkateLondon will be going much earlier and should refer to the competition website for directions!
Where to meet up in Eastbourne
Eastbourne Station for 10:30am - TRAIN TICKETS should have been pre-bought and paid for in order to take advantage of the £5 a person offer. (£20 a group of 4) We will endeavour to group people into 4's but if that is impossible you will find one or two of you paying proportionally more.
